I was invited to access the Community Village website after finding it on the internet. I was working with a group of women who belonged to a local community group, they had a range of first languages and had identified a need to feel more confident in having conversations. They specifically named medical professionals including GPs, education professionals including teachers and police officers, as those they wanted to be able to communicate with and ask questions. The resource was easy to access, and I was able to identify a number of activities which I could use as along with handouts to engage the students in talking about themselves, their community, their families and issues related to health, education and safety. I was able to enrol all the students easily and particularly liked the ability to select the appropriate first language to ease access and use. In the classroom I was able to demonstrate the resource and encourage the students to use it independently. I would recommend it to both teachers and students.
